hot sweaty days are here..

Ahh yesterday was the 'official' first hot day of the summer. It was borderline gross, and we decided to make a trip to the laundromat! Thank god clothes dry faster in the summertime.
So far I've just been hanging out, rekindling with old friends, watching movies, shopping..enjoying the time while i can since I choose not to work right now. Taking a summer class two days a week and plan on going to Toronto to visit my loves next month. I might as well take advantage of the spare leisure time now while i can. I HOPE to be much busier this time next year, working and getting closer to finishing college.
Technically, I should be much more productive at this time..being 22 and all. If i wanted to, i could be doing much more. But I've learned that i need to take my time with things and ease into it. I'm working on self- improvement in many ways.. But it's hard.
I am a very lazy person. its a damn fact. I try hard to change it..but eh, have been unsuccessful. even such things as getting up late from bed to putting things off for the next day. I think think think but don't get around to doing most of the time. But it makes me feel like i lack a lot of things, basically not up to par with who id like to perceive myself as..
I don't think i will be completely satisfied with myself until i 'fix' the things that bother me. hence, The efforts continue :)

chere de amake!

my mother and I are watching an old 80's Bengali movie on television. it is hilarious. the songs, the dialogue, the dramaticness.. Its funny how i love Indian (bollywood ) movies and find nothing wrong with them but when it comes to Bengali movies, i think its the worst thing ever. Well there is a huge difference, especially in the quality. But bangladeshi movies are like..really bad fake c-grade indian movies!
my favorite line tonight from this move was in a song 'meetha meetha prem kheno titha korecho! (why do you make sweet love so bitter)'. It just doesnt sound so nice in bengali..

hey there good-lookin...

I just read a 'note' a friend of mine wrote questioning if a smart, independent woman dumbs herself for men to fit what they want us to be. also, the age old question of if it only matters to men that we look good on the outside. Honestly, I do think that most people judge each other on first impressions ( i.e making your opinion on someone in the first 17 seconds), so to a point it does matter what you look like. But i do think that eventually people get past that and move on to your personality. Well most people do. I also think that sometimes, when someone so very physically attracted to you, they want very badly for you to also be a good person (meaning, maybe they overlook a lot of bad qualities. )
Also, i think most people have an 'ideal' image of what they consider good-looking and try to find that. That does change depending on who they end up with, because nobody really can be 'ideal' or perfect. I don't like the idea of anyone settling for me or telling me that if i changed something about myself i would be so much better, especially if they're talking about my body!
I refuse to change myself for a guy. fat skinny smart stupid, whatever i might be, i am me. If they don't like it, there are plenty of other women out there for them. Every woman is unique is in her own way, and i am sure there is some one out there to appreciate that woman's individuality.
I will wait until I meet the one who appreciates mine.

Is it time to start looking?

Everywhere I turn to, somebody or the other is getting hitched. Facebook doesn't let any privacy remain so you find out who's marrying who, what they're wearing and who's attending the wedding! I myself, have three weddings to attend this year, not including the one I've already been to earlier this year. Its great that people have found their significant others and are moving into a different phase of life, im all for it. My problem is, their all around my age or people of my generation.
Its making me sit up and think, is it time i started thinking about it too? I'm certainly not ready, nor have i met anyone that would lead me to start thinking about marriage. But it kind of sucks to be the single one while everyone else around me is coupling up already. well I'm perfectly happy the way i am right now, but i'm just thinking of the future. i know id like to be married someday and the older you get, the harder it is to find someone (for a Bengali girl at least).
I guess I should start stocking the bullpen ;p
